INTRODUCTION: Dawger

Hello All,

A little about my background. I spent right at 30 years flying professionally, beginning as a flight instructor in 1987 at Louisiana Tech University and finishing up in 2017, flying rich people around the world in the Bombardier Global Express and Bombardier Challenger 605. In between, I flew a very wide variety of aircraft including experimental unlimited aerobatic aircraft, WWII era single and multiengine aircraft, almost everything Beechcraft and Cessna ever made, large turboprop airliners and several business jets. I also did a very large amount of training from the student pilot level to ATP type checks for FAA and JAA certificates. From flying baby chickens to Mexico to near zero/zero landings with world famous people in back, I have the stories.

In the virtual world I started flying online in 1996 on Warbirds and developed a passion for BFM engagements and especially for wing pair and 4 ship tactics. I spent the majority of my time online in various titles flying and teaching with guys who did it for real and with guys who started from scratch. I learned a lot in the process, especially in teaching folks.

I have had an interest in helicopter ops for long time, having never actually been in one in the real world.

I have flown the Huey about 100 hours but the Huey in DCS has a very limited role with the poor infantry implementation.

I have always loved the FAC role and the teamwork aspects of online MP.

The Kiowa seemed to be an ideal choice for me and after flying it just about 20 hours I decided to step way outside my BFM/Fixed Wing box and find a unit looking to employ the OH-58D as part of a team oriented approach to operations.

That is what led me here. I am looking forward to learning how to keep a loose collection of rotating parts in formation and employing the KW in its intended roles.

See you soon in the unfriendly skies. 🚁

Sounds like quite the career, if you can disclose - who was the most memorable "famous person" you had as a client?

Welcome to the Group, awesome having more instructor mindsets here and look forward to see what you guys can bring to the mission with Rotorops!!

Depends on what you mean by most memorable.

I once saved Steven Tyler from cracking his head on the concrete with two fingers on his back to get him back on track on the air stair.
He was pretty memorable in conversation as well.

However, I have a ton of great memories of flying Eric Clapton on five North American tours.

He is a nice guy but evenings out with his tour manager and assistant tour manager were legendary.

Incredible stories of the world of rock and roll from the late sixties to the early aughts and huge amounts of adult beverages after all the talent was tucked safely in bed.

As you can guess, I did a lot of music charter for a lot of old school big names and some one off trips with younger musicians.
