v303 FG 2023 Goals

Happy New Year from the Virtual 303rd Fighter Group!

A vision we have in the v303 FG is to not only share most items we develop for the group with the community but also be transparent with what the priorities and goals are for the group each year. This not only gives our members an idea of what we are planning but should help people in the community see if the v303 FG is something they’d enjoy being part of.

Even though we have members in the group who have been a part of starting-up other DCS World virtual organizations, have thousands of MP flight hours, as well as real world experience we are a young organization going live back in September 2022. We’ve got a firm foundation established now we’re working to build and refine things.

The vision of the v303 FG is to enjoy flying with friends while focusing on tactics, techniques, and procedures within the confines of DCS World.”

The mission of the v303 FG is to train virtual combat pilots, deploy precision attack aircraft, and deliver an array of air-to-ground weapons with pinpoint accuracy to win today’s virtual fight in DCS World.”

2023 Priorities/Goals

1. Progress students through B-Course; continue refining courses to balance realism vs fun.
2. Establish first pass at Mission Qualification Training courses.
3. Prep or addition of the F-15E to the v303 FG (v307 Fighter Squadron 'Stingers').
4. First combat deployment is scheduled mid spring/early summer to allow members time to progress through training.
5. Participate in operations with other virtual organizations (for example 132 Virtual Wing)

Command, Squadron & Group Meetings. It is important for everyone to get together occasionally just to chat. Meetings will occur quarterly allowing Command the opportunity to provide information on the group/squadrons status, allow members an opportunity to provide feedback on how they feel things are going or express ideas, thoughts, concerns for the group.

2023 Plans

1. Projected 2023 TDY & Deployment Schedule. The dates are not set in stone and can change depending on status of current trainees and mission design/development but I think it’s good to provide a projection so students can work towards completing the courses that are prerequisites to fly combat.

We plan to simulate deployments to the point that if a pilot chooses to “deploy” they don’t fly missions out of Nellis or Andersen during the deployment window and focus completely on combat ops. Eventually the Virtual Fighter Squadrons will conduct training specific to the type of mission(s) they’ll likely be tasked with during our combat deployments

  • Nellis (training): 1 Dec – 31 January 23
  • Andersen (training): 1 – 28 Feb
  • Nellis (training): 1 Mar – 30 April
  • Combat Deployment (theater TBD): 1 May – 31 July
  • Nellis (training): 1 Aug – 30 Sep
  • Andersen (training): 1 – 31 Oct
  • Combat Deployment (theater TBD): 1 Nov – 30 Dec
  • End of Year "Beer Hop": Date TBD

2. Internal Competitions:
  • Virtual Hawgsmoke (A-10 only): Mar/Apr
  • Virtual Gunsmoke (Group Wide): Aug/Sep
